“White House spokesman Jay Carney refused to state the U.S. position on the location of Israel’s capital during a press briefing, Thursday, despite several requests for clarification from a pair of reporters,” reported the Times of Israel. “The exchange, caught on video and uploaded to YouTube, quickly made the cyberspace rounds as the latest example of world bodies’ refusal to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.” Click here to see the video. Just to be clear, Jerusalem — not Tel Aviv or any other city — is the eternal capital of Israel and the Jewish people. “I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel,” declares the Lord God Almighty (2 Chronicles 6:6). “He has founded his city on the holy mountain. The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.” (Psalm 87:1-2) “Jerusalem, the city which the Lord has…

A Short Course on Revelation

A short course in the Book of Revelation

A piece of preliminary information: I have been reading the Chronicles of Narnia and this has stirred some aspects of my thinking. I find the grace and mercy of God to be even more predominant, not only in the way I think, but I see this aspect of God all throughout the scriptures, and the Revelation is no different.

Other aspects that bring about a clarity to the Revelation:

The rise of Islam.

Technically we are dealing with a resurrected Ottoman empire.

This word resurrected takes on a whole new meaning when applied to the “beast” whose head was wounded. (Check this out at your leisure in Revelation 13);

The economic collapse of the nations;

The push for one world, socialist government (What makes this more of a reality is things like the Bilderberg group.),

The major turn of events going on in America, the nation I live in.

I should not fail to note that in many parts of the world Christians are being hunted and killed.

The world is not changing, it has changed. Islam is an extraordinary and imminent threat to all civilizations that refuse to follow their teachings and bow to Allah.

In light of that, I feel compelled to tell you, I will never bow my knee to Allah.

“I’m on Aslan’s side even if there isn’t any Aslan to lead it. I’m going to live as much like a Narnian as I can, even if there isn’t any Narnia.”

C.S. Lewis, The Silver Chair

When I read this line it shook me. When people challenge us and ridicule us with their senseless logic, telling us that there is no reason to serve God, then it is time to have the backbone to understand a principal; there is something greater, that speaks to us, telling us that there is a life more important than the one we are living; a life as a person called to be a Prince in God’s kingdom. Even if I could not prove it, this life is a far better course of action and way to live. I choose to live this way regardless, but I know he is real. Aslan is not the name I know him by, but since Aslan means the Lion in the Turkish dialect, and my God is the Lion of Judah, then it works for me.

Many have taken the time to read the overviews of the Revelation and therefore understand the time frame in which John wrote. Rome was a force and impact in his life, and not for the better, but this not really what I wish to convey here.

God is in control no matter what the situation looks like.

An example of that kind of thinking shows up in this statement:

Don’t you mind,” said Puddleglum. “There are no accidents. Our guide is Aslan; andhe was there when the giant king caused the letters to be cut, and he knew already all things that would come of them; including this.
― C.S. Lewis,
The Silver Chair

John wrote and describe things that would have been impossible to understand, unless, God saw to it that he understood, but like Daniel, John was told to not disclose some aspects.

If you will walk through the book of Revelation with the attitude, God has had this all planned out and knew this would come, then you should be able to read this book understanding that your hope is in him, and those who reject him have very little.

Revelation

The word, apokalupsis, translated Revelation, means to uncover. It’s usage in the NT conveys the drawing away by Christ of the veil of darkness.

It is the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Who is this Jesus Christ? He has many names. If you are familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia then you might know him as Aslan.

Make no mistake about it – He is:

The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords

The Lion of the tribe of Judah

The beginning and the end

The Son of God

The creative Word of God

The creator of all things

The lamb of God, slain for the sins of the world.

The worthy one

The first born from the dead

The bright and morning star

He who sits upon the throne

Our redeemer

Our mediator

I could go on and on, but as this book of Revelation comes to a dramatic end, He is that judge who comes back to the earth to set things straight.

The first three chapters cover Jesus addressing the churches.

These places were real, but also symbolic of the church today. Words of encouragement and warning were given to all but one. The Laodicean church, the last church, was destroyed because they did not respond to the warnings that were conveyed through John’s pen.

What does that mean to us today? Take heed, God is not joking.

Sadly, I think the candle has been blown out.

A prophetic word; We are the Laodicean church.

The time of Jacob’s troubles or the great tribulation period.

Chapter 4 of Revelation opens with the statement that initiates the time of judgment against Israel and the nations, “after these things.” There is a logical aspect to this for the context of the previous three chapters have been addresses to the church. To say “after these things”, to me anyway, implies things that follow the church age. Not once does the text address the church after this point, but it does address the time of judgment. Scripture tells us that we were not destined for judgment. That is fairly open-ended, and could imply something befalling the church, should it not respond to warnings.

Here is what you need to ask yourself.

Is God’s word true or not?

– If not, then all of us have wasted our time.

– If true, and it is, then understand, Jesus took all the punishment for our sins.

Hebrews 7:21-27 NIV but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.'” (22) Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant. (23) Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; (24) but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. (25) Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (26) Such a high priest truly meets our need–one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. (27) Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

Hebrews 9:11-12 KJV …..but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Hebrews 9:26 KJV …… but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Hebrews 10:4-12 KJV For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. ….(10) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (11) And every priest stands daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: (12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

There is no longer a sacrifice to be made, hence no punishment for sins. What is left is a punishment for those that refuse to accept the one who made that final sacrifice.

Here is where you have a decision to make: Pre, Mid, or Post tribulation?

There is a correct answer, but is it really important if you are pursuing your first love, Jesus Christ? Not really, for whether he comes for you early or late, He will come.

I happen to take the Pre-Tribulation view and Revelation 4:1 is a valid and primary reason. Additional arguments tend to center upon the timing of Jesus return and the deluge of grief about to be poured out on the world.

Chronologically what do we begin to see happening?

Immediately after the rapture: all hell breaks loose.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-10 KJV (6) Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; (7) And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, (8) In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (9) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; (10) When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

The concept I wish to convey is that God is taking vengeance upon them that do not know God, hence, not heeding the good news of Jesus Christ.

What is the problem that almost all people have with the book of Revelation?

They do not understand it, primarily because it uses symbolism and multiple people and places get the same name.

Allow me to attempt a simple, comprehensible explanation?

The Lamb, slain for us, opens the seals, and judgment begins.

This comes as angels pour out bowls of judgment, and trumpets are blown signifying more judgments coming.

This period of judgment lasts for seven years.

It is a time marked by massive earthquakes

Fire falling from the sky, (we have yet to see anything like that.)

Literal and spiritual Darkness. Spiritual darkness is all around us and getting darker.

Political upheaval – We have been watching much of this on the news. It will get worse.

Martial Law. The plans and means are already in place in America.

Lack of food which will cause food costs to go through the roof.

Vicious and wide spread rioting

War. In all likelihood Iran will attack Israel, but expect to see many nations involved

Almost immediately a leader will step forward, declare peace, and there will be a form of peace. This charismatic leader will be Islamic. Islam will declare this man to be the Mahdi they have been waiting for.

After what seems like a few days of panic there will be three and one half years of relative peace.

I said relative peace because the violence against Christians we in America just saw with the recent (June 2012) Dearborn Michigan video, will become predominant throughout the United States and other so-called civilized nations as Islamics attempt to gain control.

You should understand something about Islam. Those that claim to be moderates and those that do not follow the Qur’an closely will be scrutinized as well. Islam will force them to take a position, and either follow in Jihad or die the death of an infidel.

I work with a caring, wonderful Persian woman. I would consider her to be a moderate. I do not know what she will do when pressed. I have prayed to God that he infest her dreams with images and messages about our Jesus Christ, the risen one, and yet she has said nothing to me. Folks, you either have to believe that God will do what he says, or he is a liar. He is not a liar, therefore I trust that he has permeated her dreams and fear is the only thing that keeps her mouth and heart closed. Choosing not to find the lamb that was slain for you, could be a sincerely bad decision on your part.

With the snatching away of the followers of Christ as the flash point for time, you can count three and one half years and you will watch this charismatic leader, that declared peace go crazy, as he throws off the political and economic world leaders that have fed him money and support, and declares jihad upon the world. Islam, under this leader, will attempt to enforce Sharia law upon the world and there will be an attempt to change times and seasons to match Islamic law.

The judgments, sent by God, will not stop for the entire seven years, and will begin immediately.

I wish I could tell you that the governing bodies of the United States would not do this, but they will take many, primarily those of you who are bold enough to follow the risen Christ, prisoner and you will be tortured and killed. Islam is typically the ones that lop off heads, so why is the United States training our military to use guillotines. This country of ours has over 600 FEMA  prison camps set up to accommodate this type of action.

Those who continue to come to acknowledge Christ, and my bible says the number will be innumerable, will lose their heads over their testimony.

You need to understand this! The Holy Spirit of God is not going anywhere. You cannot kill it, and you are not driving it away. It is the drawing force of God, through the Holy Spirit, that continues to pull people to him.

Those that come to follow Jesus Christ during this time will become embolden. They will speak with power and authority and will act as Elijah not did, but continues to do. If you do not understand this statement then I strongly suggest that you read the second chapter of the Prophet Joel. It describes a horrible time of destruction from an army coming upon Israel and it’s people.

And yet, take note:

Joel 2:27-32 MKJV “ And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and no one else; and My people shall never be ashamed. (28) And it shall be afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; your old men shall dream dreams; your young men shall see visions. (29) And also I will pour out My Spirit on the slaves and on the slave women in those days. (30) And I will show wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. (31) The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of Jehovah. (32) And it shall be, whoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be saved; for salvation shall be in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, as Jehovah has said, and in the remnant whom Jehovah shall call.”

In the midst of horror, followers of Christ will open their mouths and stop the sun in the sky; still the enemy in it’s tracks; cause a veil of darkness to fall on those that pursue them; bring healing and life to others that seek the way; call fire down from heaven, and why? Because God is still in control no matter what the circumstances look like. The Apostle Peter declared this on the day of Pentecost.

Joel 2:13-14 MKJV Yes, tear your heart and not your robes, and turn to Jehovah your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and He pities because of the evil. (14) Who knows if He will turn and have pity and leave a blessing behind Him, a food offering and a drink offering to Jehovah your God?

I forgot to mention.

That as all this destruction associated with the seven year period of judgment begins, God sends two witnesses or prophets back to earth.

Understand something. It is appointed unto every man, once to die. Elijah the prophet never died, but was taken to God in a fiery chariot, and Enoch, a prophet of God, walked right off the earth and into God’s arms. I fully expect these two men (their names are not that important) to show up immediately after the rapture.

The two prophets will preach Jesus Christ as the risen Messiah, do the miracles that Elijah did while he walked this earth the first time, and they will, by their word, slay those that rise against them. For three and one half years they will stand in the streets of Jerusalem declaring this message. News stations will broadcast their words and actions, not in support, but in amazement and mockery. We know this for when they are killed the news will broadcast their deaths, as they lie in the street for 3 days. They will rise from the dead on the third day and ascend to heaven to, just as Jesus did, and this will be broadcast for all the world to see.

Sadly, the deaths of the prophets will be the result of a personage the Revelation calls “the false prophet.”

Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10; Revelation 11:7

Islam calls this man Isa, or Jesus bin Mariam (Jesus, the son of Mary, not God.)

In Matthew 24 the disciples asked Jesus a question. His response was startling, as the first thing he said was, “see to it that you be not deceived.”

Why is that important?

Because this man, the false prophet, presents himself as Jesus, a Jew, of the priestly lineage, and he is a Muslim. He will declare that the teachings of the Torah were wrong, and that everyone has to follow Allah and his prophet Mohammed.

Daniel 8:23-25 KJV And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. (24) And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. (25) And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

(Is it possible that this passage could be speaking of only one man? Certainly, but when you take other sources of information like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_Islam, then the characters and their descriptions begin to make sense. The Mahdi, in contrast with the Muslim Jesus, will give rain and money. Now anyone with money to give could do some of that, but the rain aspect. Consider that Revelation 11 tells us two witnesses sent from God, there is debate upon their arrival and place it at the mid-tribulation point, will have control over the rain as well as other heavenly events.

Rain is a big issue in the middle east, but a bigger issue when someone takes it away. If the Mahdi could bring it back then he suddenly appears to be a more powerful force, hence greater deception.)

He will deceive many Jews, and a number of mindless people who have refused to open a bible and find out what the truth is.

In Islam, Jesus (Isa; Arabic: عيسى‎ ʿĪsā) is considered to be a Messenger of God and the Masih (Messiah) who was sent to guide the Children of Israel (banī isrā’īl) with a new scripture, the Injīl or Gospel.[1]

The Mahdi, that Islam awaits, is said to produce new portions of the Torah that make everything clear. When Jesus Christ answered the disciples about when and what to look for, he said, “see to it that you are not deceived…”. I suspect that the emphasis is there on purpose.

In addition to the cults we know of, a new one showed up at the door recently. They claim that not only had Jesus returned as a Korean, died and is lying in state, but Mother God herself was there, dead as well. That comes off as totally unbelievable to me, and yet there are over 20 thousand followers.

What would deceive so many? Signs, wonders, claims, provable lineage, and the production of documents disproving Christianity.

Islam also believes that this man who is declaring himself to be Jesus, is also the enforcer of Sharia.

How would that impact you if the one you thought came from God inverted the very things you thought you understood to be true, and now demands that you follow Allah or die. Of course many will die, and scripture calls them Saints, but there will be some that follow this fool.

(From Wikipedia) According to Islamic tradition which describes this graphically, Jesus’ descent will be in the midst of wars fought by the Mahdi (lit. “the rightly guided one”), known in Islamic eschatology as the redeemer of Islam, against the Antichrist (al-Masīh ad-Dajjāl, “False messiah“) and his followers.[26] Jesus will descend at the point of a white arcade, east of Damascus, dressed in yellow robes – his head anointed. He will then join the Mahdi in his war against the Antichrist. Jesus, considered as a Muslim, will abide by the Islamic teachings. Eventually, Jesus will slay the Antichrist, and then everyone from the People of the Book (ahl al-kitāb, referring to Jews and Christians) will believe in him. Thus, there will be one community, that of Islam.[27]

Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 43: Kitab-ul-`Ilm (Book of Knowledge), Hâdith Number 656:

Narrated Abu Hurairah: Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (as charitable gifts)”

—Collected by Muhammad al-BukhariSahih al-Bukhari[28]

The pigs they refer to are the Jews.

The Jizya tax is the extortion money they charge non-Muslims to live in a Muslim land (this does not prevent or exclude you from attack or beheading in any way.)

The breaking of the crosses may be symbolic language. Just look around you, crosses are coming down everywhere, deemed politically incorrect or offensive.

Jesus Christ told us that if God did not cut the time of tribulation short no man would survive. That means that there will be blood in the streets, and not just the blood of Christ followers.

We argue and fight over when Jesus will come back to extract those that look for him, hence the earlier question, Pre, Mid, or Post Tribulationist. Tribulation is a relative term and we in America may only now be starting to come to grips with it. Right now in many parts of the world Christians are being hunted and killed. Beheadings seem to be sport to these peaceful Muslims.

What are you supposed to do in the midst of a violent world? Pray. Joel chapter 2 gives us the precedent to declare authority over the enemies camp. I would strongly suggest that you ponder what Jesus did when they took him and killed him; continue to be a witness regardless.

Understand this. Jesus said that the tribulation would get so bad that no one would survive it.

Are we even close to that point yet? Not even. You, in your comfortable, safe, homes, are not even close, but the day will come when they will hunt you down as well.

Not having learned about this savior who rose from the dead, Jesus. What will give you the backbone to stand for him in that day?

Jesus will return to earth as he said he would.

This will happen at the end of the seven-year period of judgment. There will be no secret about it, for it will be open and clear for everyone to see. His return to earth is distinctly different from the time when he comes to gather his flock. Although that time will be with clouds also, he does not return to earth but we who are awaiting him, go up to meet him.

He will come with the clouds. Dan 7:13; Mark 13:26; Revelation 1:7

A shofar will be blaring throughout the atmosphere. 1Cor 15:52;

He will plant his feet on the Mount of Olives, and the mount will split in two, creating a great valley. Zech 14:4

He is coming in fury, and a sword will proceed out of his mouth with which he will slay those that fight against him, and there will be many. Revelation 1:16; Revelation 19:21

The church, previously caught up to be with him, will return with him, on that day, and assist in battle against the nations. Revelation 19:14

The New Jerusalem will descend upon the earth.

This will begin the thousand-year reign upon the earth.

The new Jerusalem will come down out of heaven and be physically planted on earth. Many do not believe this, but that is not important. What is, is that scriptures tell us that the nations must come to this place and bow before him yearly for the next thousand years. Refusal to do that will have horrendous results for the first offense and a rather instantaneous death for the second. Revelation 21:2; Revelation 3:12; Revelation 3:9; Revelation 15:4; Isaiah 60:14

Those slain for following him will rule over this earth during the next thousand years, and there will be peace. Daniel 7; 1 Corinthians 6:2; Revelation 20:6

When this thousand-year time period is over, God after having made tremendous efforts to show mercy to the nations, will end it with the great white throne judgment. The rest of the dead will come to life and all not in the flock will be judged. This collection of dead people will take in all the ages of man on the earth. Again God shows mercy, for he grants entrance to those who were not merely selfish.

I do not think it necessary to dwell on the eternal torment in store for those who reject him; God gave them so many opportunities and signs that would draw them to him. Just as those who follow him will be in a perfect presence, filled with peace, those without will be swept away to an eternity of torture with their master.

I see this letter as doing three things. It has the potential to enlighten those who wish to understand, and possibly provoke many to read for themselves. Reading is the only way that you will come to understand the nature of God.

The second aspect would be the message to those who did not make the gathering of the church. I am sure you thought you deserved to go, and have had or will have had your tantrum.

You are in a very dangerous place, not only spiritually, but physically. You either suddenly grow a backbone and take a position for Christ, something that you were obviously not very good at before, or you accept the “mark” of the beast and worship Allah, sealing your fate as one that refused to follow Jesus Christ.

While everything could use more thought, I have written this last sentence without giving it that much thought. The third thing this writing could do to you is push you further away from the God you desperately need.

I feel confident in saying this; you have cried out for him to redeem your life for years, but have struggled with this stupid arrogance that seems to feel that no one has the right to tell you how to live. You prove your lack of understanding when you talk and act like that, for God has never thrown anything out there for us to do that was impossible or impractical. Many have seen the practicality of God’s ways and chosen to live by them, because it was a better way to live.

Caleb was one of those, among Israel, that went into Canaan’s land to spy it out. He came back and told them it can be taken. Israel rejected his words, because this alien was not going to tell them what they could do.

Alien, really? Yes, he was not born a Jew, but chose to be one. He was still following God after 80 years and was still determined to take the land that his God had promised. He was willing to let some stranger, God, tell him how to live, and he lived what he considered a better life, a life of promise.

If you have not read the Chronicles of Narnia series then you do not know that it ended with many of the main characters in heaven. Strangely, at first, they could not tell the difference. What they noticed was that is was richer, fuller, more colorful, and bigger with every turn. There was an unsurpassed peace, and the knowledge that God was in total control.

I invite you to know him as the Calormen ruler came to know him. He is beyond your wildest dreams, for heaven is of him. Jesus said, “no man comes to the Father but through him.” I suggest you ask Jesus to make himself real to you, and watch the adventure begin.

Changing the narrative

The guest speaker at Church was Johhny Enroe. I have seen his name listed among other prophetic speakers, but I am usually unimpressed by that stuff.

Mr. Enroe said, we need to change our narrative, for if we are focused upon the events and situations going on around us, then we will miss out on God’s best for our lives. He rapidly named off the Bilderberg group, New World Order, and The Illuminati (A loose playback.) He continued to say, “It is time for a new narrative, a new mindset.”

What are you talking about?

Webster’s dictionary states: NARRATIVE, n. The recital of a story, or a continued account of the particulars of an event or transaction; story.

It is possible that what Johhny Enroe was saying had more to do with the things we are verbally repeating, hence impacting our outlook on life, negating what God is capable of.

But that did not seem to be the context of his message.

We are not supposed to be ignorant about what is going on around us. As I began posting information about Islam’s tenets and beliefs to give people a heads up, it was not a surprise when I got a rebuttal from an acquaintance who angrily stated, “perhaps the Muslims merely want to practice their religion in peace!”

How do they do that when their teachings and directives are a constant state of Jihad until the earth is purged of the unbeliever (That would include anyone not a Muslim).

From my point of view, if you understand what is coming then you can do something about it. And what is the primary something we can do? Pray and hold back the enemy, because having read what the Bible says about end times it is not going to be pretty.

We have the right and ability to hold the enemy at bay, and can do so effectively.

2 Thessalonians 2:6 AMP (6) And now you know what is restraining him [from being revealed at this time]; it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own [appointed] time.

Yes, I am implying that we need to cover the backs of our brothers and sisters in those Islamic majority nations. We have the authority and power of effect change across this globe. Syria seems to be the next critical battle ground, as Russia is supplying arms to Assad, and Iran is trying to get Assad out. Meanwhile everyone else in that country and near it is at tremendous risk. To be honest I am not sure how to pray over that nation. Most importantly I pray that God’s will be done, but with a fervency I ask for protection over God’s people.

[Father I ask that your hand covers those who belong to you and keep them safe during this destructive time in Syria, and those nations whose leadership chooses to persecute Christians. Continue to show your mighty hand as you bring those you have called into the kingdom. Cease not to draw people to you, and to give peace to Israel until the time is necessary to release Jacob’s troubles. Father, above all I ask that your will be done on the earth as you prepare to bring your reign and kingdom.]

We, through the insights in the Word, should have an understanding about what is coming, and how we are to act during these last days; such as, pray.

Our introduction to the Revelation tells us that there is a blessing upon those that keep the things that are written in it.

Revelation 1:3 ASV Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Thayer’s definitions of Greek words states that the word tereo or keep in English, means to attend to carefully. We are supposed to be paying attention, reading, being alert. Even if like those before us, we never get to actually see what is to come. But that is not the case with us. Israel is a major clue, for Jesus said, “when you see these things come to pass then you know that the summer is near and the time for the harvest.

Luke 21:29-30 KJV And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; (30) When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

Yes, I am aware that the last days have actually lasted over two thousand years and many of you have lost your focus. Do you not realize that for the course of those two thousand years we have had the capability to walk this earth as prophets, effecting change everywhere we go, and yet we have allowed others to change our narrative for us, convincing us that we were powerless and not supposed to act like this. False teachers have told us that the power and giftings of God were not for us today, and they have, by their many convincing words, stripped us of hope. They have even gone so far as to lead us into an idolatry of money and possessions.

Changing a narrative?

A Shakespeare play has a narrative and you can’t change that, or can you? It happens all the time. Some playwright may turn King Lear into a comedy, while another makes some twisted musical out of it.

And God has narratives as well, but God has invited us to ask for change. God’s account should not be taken lightly as a story might. It is history, poetry, victory and defeat, and yet scattered through every book in this collection we call a Bible is the future laid out before us.

Can you change the future, especially when God has decreed it? We tend to think that God’s decrees are set in stone as far as timing. Don’t be fooled, God will carry through on the plans he decrees; it just may not be today.

Isaiah 55:11 CJB so is my word that goes out from my mouth — it will not return to me unfulfilled; but it will accomplish what I intend, and cause to succeed what I sent it to do.”

Let me flesh out some examples of those who brought about changes in God’s narrative. Jonah is told by God to go to Nineveh and give them a decree, repent or die at the hand of God! (Read the entire book. It is short.) They repented and God relented. Note the word relent. God backed off his decree for a time, but he never forgot. In time, by their choice to return to their death-dealing, terrorist ways God rained death upon them.

It seems like only a few months ago that I finally saw and realized this aspect of the Jonah epic. History and archeology has proved this out, this town and evidence of their existence have been uncovered just outside of Mosul, in the country of Iraq.

Pointing out to someone, that God had deferred his anger toward Nineveh after their repentance, I was immediately met with, “God forgave them!” That kind of statement only demonstrates our lack of interest in reading the scriptures for ourselves, while depending on sanitized children’s stories from Sunday morning church school to form our world view.

Didn’t God wipe them all off the map?

One of the problems people have always had with scripture, is that a statement is made like, “everyone was destroyed,” when it was most.

The book of Daniel is an example of this kind of language. Nebuchadnezzar, at his advisers prompting, had made a decree that everyone should bow to this huge idol. Hanniniah, Azariah, and Mishael did not. And yet it tells us that everyone was there, but Daniel was not. The three Hebrews were tossed into the fire and walked back out again. Clearly the statements like “all” cannot be taken so literal, for in the case of Nineveh what is left of them is a derivative of the Assyrian language. That derivative, we are told, most closely resembles Farsi. The greatest export of the Ninevites was terrorism (They had become very proficient at it, impaling their enemies on poles or dragging them until dead behind chariots through their streets.) And this is what the world is experiencing today, the exportation of a global terrorism.

Israel, almost immediately upon leaving Egypt began to complain, set up idols (Molech) and revert to the old, comfortable ways. God told Moses he would kill them all on several occasions. Moses interceded for them and God relented. And yet God’s judgment against Israel can still be clearly seen for Israel has been attacked, killed, captured and scattered for most of their lives, and yet scripture tells us that they have yet to repent. They will, but only at great cost. Read Exodus 32 for yourself.

He (God), changes times and seasons.

Time exists because the sun rises and sets. Seasons exist because of the angle of the earth’s rotation.

Is any of that set in stone? Apparently not. We have already experienced two literal, earth-shaking events that have caused a shift in the earth’s axis during this 21st century. A USA TODAY, March 15, 2011, headline read, “NASA: Japan quake shortened Earth’s day, shifted axis”. In March of 2010 National Geographic reported that the Chilean earthquake altered the day length and shifted the earth on it’s axis.

Though minor in terms of degrees of shift, they are none the less shifts. Scripture tells us that the entire earth will be shaken violently. That would certainly do some major damage, but what if the statement is rhetorical.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had a frightening dream, of that he was sure, but he could not remember it, and it was clear to him that it had some meaning. Nebuchadnezzar summoned all the wise men, but Daniel, nor his fellow Hebrews, was not there, and he demanded that someone tell him the dream and meaning. Not capable of giving him that information he ordered the deaths of all the wise men. Now Daniel is in trouble.

Daniel 2:13-15 NIV So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death. (14) When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact. (15) He asked the king’s officer, “Why did the king issue such a harsh decree?” Arioch then explained the matter to Daniel.

Daniel, wisely buys some time, calls his Hebrew brothers together and they pray for an answer.

Daniel 2:18 NIV He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel 2:19-21 NIV During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven (20) and said: “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. (21) He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

Daniel made this statement out of honor for God, not necessarily because he had experienced severe earthquakes and saw some form of climate change. What Daniel experienced was his own capture, possible emasculation, loss of any previous relationships, enslavement, and re-training under the hand of Nebuchadnezzar. In the midst of this he maintained his dedication to the ways and knowledge of God.

The Aramaic word for change is shena, meaning to change, alter, or be diverse.

Times – Aramaic iddan meaning a set period of time. Question, who sets the time?

Seasons – zeman meaning appointed times. The word zman is used 11 times, 9 of which were translated time.

Daniel 4:36 has Nebuchadnezzar speaking of the time that God restored his sanity.

Another instance of the changing of times comes from Daniel 7:25 where Daniel has prophesied about the man of lawlessness that is to come. This man has many names.

Daniel 7:25 ASV And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change (to alter) the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.

We are seeing this as the theme of Islam. They are making a concerted effort to affect these changes even in democratic nations.

I think we are missing the point if we merely look at God’s mercy as inconsistency, which I know some will and already have. What we have been given is a flexibility. Even in Daniel 7:25 there is the phrase, “and he shall think to change…”; do you not see that there is left to the “saints” an open door to stop the avenger in his tracks.

The Ninevite ruler said in: Jonah 3:9-10 KJV “Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? (10) And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”

Even this pagan terrorist understood that there was the opportunity for change in God’s heart.

This is a book being written as we go.

Yes, due to the fact that God cannot go back on his word, that which is spoken shall come to pass, but scripture is filled with variables and it is the person that will stand upon their faith that bring about the deflection of course necessary. Physics alone tell us that the Sun or Earth was never meant to change directions, but it did. Something astronomical happened, for the shadow went backward on the sun-dial just to prove that God was in control.

2 Kings 20:8-11 KJV And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.

Joshua prayed that the sun would stand still, and it did.

Joshua 10:11-13 KJV And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. (12) Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. (13) And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Is God open to new narratives?

It would seem so, and yet, does he not already know what action you are going take, merely waiting for your command.

The Spirit of the Lord says to you, rise up my beloved, rise up and take my strength as the Sun takes the day. I have placed my Word inside of you to effect change. There is no need to cringe in fear, for sadly fear will be plentiful. The unbelieving have brought this upon themselves, but it is time for you to put on strength.

In the midst of a battle it is a bad time to consider putting on battle gear, you should have seen this coming, especially since I have left you my Word and told you to be prepared. Now that the battle is raging around you I strongly suggest that you do something, flexibility allows for that. Nothing outside of judgment is set in stone, but judgment is not coming for the saints, it is coming upon the world that refuses me. Do not be that world, be the ones who set their sights upon me. There is a hope and I will come for you no matter what.

Read the second chapter of Joel. This is my word to you now says the Lord. You are not forsaken and you will not be abandoned or refused, for I know those who are mine. I am a God of Mercy to those who cry out for it.

Let that be you.

Breakfast with the guys

I walk in late and find the bible study group deeply involved in a discussion about naval strategy, Japanese zeros, and how one man of our group survived a kamikaze pilot missing the ship he was on by forty feet.

I sat down and said nothing, for two reasons:

  1. I have never been involved in combat;

  2. I had no idea what motivated the conversation.

Later, as I was finishing my breakfast, a clue finally arose as to what triggered this conversation – Luke 11:21. So let’s take a look at that verse together.

Luke 11:21 NIV “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe.”

If you had to take this at face value, what might you learn from it?

It comes off as a strong position that possibly defends the right to do violence in protecting one’s personal property. One of the men in our group quickly stated that a Senator recently quoted this verse, in a public forum, defining America’s right and reason, for not only going to war, but the budget behind it.

I am not so sure we can take that kind of liberty with this passage. Take a look at what Jesus told the disciples, primarily Peter, on the night that he was taken.

Matthew 26:52 AMP “Then Jesus said to him, Put your sword back into its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.” [Gen. 9:6.]

Genesis 9:6 tells us this: “If anyone takes a human life, that person’s life will also be taken by human hands. For God made human beings[fn] in his own image.” Try to absorb this bit of information in light of Cain’s actions; he killed his brother out of jealousy. At the time he smashed that rock into Abel’s head, we are led to suppose that there were only four people on earth, and, as far as we know, they may have had no concept of murder. And yet, Cain tells God, people will try to kill me. The question for us is, was Genesis 9:6 an understanding they had before killing Abel, or did this knowledge come out of Cain’s actions?

I tend to despise Pastors who are willing to say, “this is what he was saying.” But pay attention to the language being used. He is not denouncing them as vile sinners for considering violence. He is merely stating an obvious fact: You will die in a sword fight, especially if you are not trained in using it.

What was Jesus’ response to James and John when they offered to call fire down upon a village that rejected the message?

Luke 9:54-56 NIV “When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, ‘Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” (55) But Jesus turned and rebuked them. (56) Then he and his disciples went to another village.”

The KJV (adds or includes) “You know not what manner of spirit you are of.” The majority of texts and manuscripts exclude this last part.

I think we have an example of the disciples attempting their idea of the strongman role.

The Greek word for rebuke is epitimaō. If Thayer’s Greek Definitions’ foremost explanation is”to show honor to.” I can assure you that Jesus was not doing that to James and John when they submitted the option of calling down fire on the Samaritans. But if, as Thayer’s continues to define, it means to show the value of the same people they wanted dead, then that makes all the sense in the world. And certainly qualifies as a rebuke. There is a context to everything, and this is no exception.

So what was the context of Luke 11:21, 22?

“For when a strong man is fully armed and guards his palace, his possessions are safe – (22) until someone even stronger attacks and overpowers him, strips him of his weapons, and carries off his belongings.”

This was a statement that Jesus made, while talking about interactions with demons.  Let’s ponder this idea for a moment.

Go back to Luke 11:14. What provoked him to speak about the strong man?

Luke 11:14 CJB He was expelling a demon that was mute. When the demon had gone out, the man who had been mute spoke; and the people were astounded.

Matthew stated:

Matthew 12:23 NIV All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

He had just spoken to the crowd in a way which would have established a tremendous amount of faith in the heart of a receptive hearer, and now they have seen Jesus cast demons out of a man.

Matthew 12 has a parallel version of this, and adds a little insight.

Matthew 12:22-23 ESV Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw. (23) And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?”

Why would the statement, “Can this be the Son of David?” cause the Jews a problem?

Let’s assume they knew who he was physically. Jesus of Nazareth; born to Mary; alleged by some to be Joseph’s son, and yet there are those statements that Jesus keeps making about God being his father.

“We know who our father is!”

In John 8:14-18 Jesus told the pharisees that he knew where he came from and where he was going. Their response:

John 8:19 MSG They said, “Where is this so-called Father of yours?” Jesus said, “You’re looking right at me and you don’t see me. How do you expect to see the Father? If you knew me, you would at the same time know the Father.”

Having written on this before I discussed how Jesus would have been known as a Momzer (There seems to be several spellings). The heartfelt meaning behind the word is extremely hateful and derogatory – it means to be illegitimate. This is precisely the vile hatred the Pharisees were dishing out at this moment. His “heritage” was in question all his life. With this kind of hatred surrounding him most of the time it is no wonder that the Jews responded quickly to any implication that Jesus was other than a man. That meant a complete and total denial of Jesus statements about himself.

John 8:41 NIV You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

“Can this be the Son of David?”

To say this in a questioning way indicates that there is an implied belief coming from the speaker, justifying the belief that Jesus is the Son of God, and entitled to act as the Father would, in a supernatural way.

They knew that only God could do such things, as they just saw him do. There are few reasonable options, the Jews had one more option. Since the crowd seems to leaning toward believing that he is God, attribute his works to the devil.

Yes I know, the Jews used the term Beelzeboul.

From Thayer’s definitions: Beelzebub = “lord of the house” 1) a name of Satan, the prince of evil spirits

There is something worthy of note in Luke’s passages.

Luke 11:14-15 ESV Now he was casting out a demon that was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke, and the people marveled. (15) But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons,”

Only God has this kind of power over demons, so who are we dealing with? We cannot accept the obvious for far too many statements have been made to abase and deny him for us to back down now, therefore driven by the god of this world they make what Jesus calls blasphemous statements.

Luke’s account slides right past Jesus reaction, but Matthew’s version has Jesus responding harshly to what they said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons,” by saying:

Matthew 12:31-32 AMP Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy (every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things) can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven. (32) And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Spirit, the Holy One, will not be forgiven, either in this world and age or in the world and age to come.

I suppose this is a migration off topic, but since Jesus said it, I will address it.

I have rarely ever heard anything that adequately explained what the blasphemy was that could never be forgiven. And I always chuckle when I hear Pastor Greg Laurie describe someone who says, “but Greg, I have committed the unpardonable sin and God can’t forgive me.” You don’t even know what it is and you have done it? The fact that God is drawing you to him proves otherwise.

Here it isThe Pharisees attributed his good works to the devil.

Jesus, only moments later said, “blasphemy against the Spirit(Presumed to be the Holy Spirit since the word used is pnuema, the same word to describe the Holy Spirit.)

Mark’s gospel backs this up and states it in stronger tones.

Mark 3:28-29 NIV Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, (29) but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

One of the men in our group, a Catholic, was really struggling with the concept of the Trinity, and longed for someone to find passages that established the concept. Jesus verbally demonstrated the trinity in a matter of seconds.

  • Only God could do what he just did.

  • Jesus just delivered a man from the demonic right in front of them, proving that he was God in the flesh.

  • He told them that what they saw was the Spirit, the third part of the trinity.

Luke 11:17-26 NIV Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. (18) If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. (19) Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. (20) But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. (21) “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. (22) But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder. (23) “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. (24) “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ (25) When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. (26) Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”

Jesus continued to speak about overpowering the strong man, Satan, for several minutes.

Did you catch that? The man’s condition could have been any number of things but Jesus attributes his condition solely to the devil. I am not sure that we can attribute everything to the devil but I believe that this moment, captured in scripture, demonstrates who we are dealing with, all the time.

I have a friend who struggles with depression and mental illness. They may never be completely well while living on this earth. How many of these issues that we deal with are demonically based?

I suppose that brings me to some other aspects of the mornings conversations.

If you believe that Luke 11:21 inspires you to get physical with someone, does that mean you are capable or that it even justifies your self-protective methods.

Someone quickly pointed out that Paul was sent out a window, by way of a basket, to make good his escape from the angry Jews that were coming to get him. (2 Cor 11:33)

How many of us think they can respond like Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, or this internet self-protection guru, Captain Chris. These, to me, are guys that are highly capable, and seemingly fearless. Any of whom could disarm you and then calmly hand your arm back to you, but I cannot do that, never could. It requires speed and agility and I have neither.

But this is a spiritual battle we are in, so how does any of that relate?

If I was a shade younger, I might train for a time when I might have to react to one of those bad moments, by learning some new skills, improving my speed, and actively practicing; in general, becoming more skillful and confident.

(Surprisingly, I had knives pulled on me twice when I was younger. I do not remember fear at all, but I had no clue what to do outside of talking. I remember being surprisingly calm and really did not expect to be injured. Later in life there have been situations that made me wish I was physically more assertive. I think many of those types of thoughts stem from ideals pushed at us by peers, and our general wish to enjoy our freedoms, especially when I am not bothering anyone.)

How do we apply what Jesus did to our own lives?; How equipped do you feel to tackle the demonic illness of someone?; How could you improve your ability to respond?

Not quite as clear-cut is it.

The beginning of any process like this is faith. Jesus had faith and confidence in the Father, not only in what the Father said, but in what He could do. There was nothing impossible to the Father, therefore there was nothing impossible to the Son. Since we are in Him, there should be nothing impossible to us either.

God made us to be in him through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, his Son. It is our acceptance of that mercy that brings us into this adoption. Religion will do it’s best to confuse you here, for they want to see total and absolute change in you, an instantaneous halo sprouting over your head, and a rapid and complete turn around in your actions.

Consider something. If you adopted several children of various ages, including a few video game playing, MTV watching teens, what might you expect from them? Very slow transitions to what you consider normal. Do you think God has it that much different with us?

He loved us, unworthy as we are, paid a price for us that does not make sense, and accepts us as his own, bad attitudes and all.

Yes, he does ask us to take out the trash and do the dishes once in a while, that is part of being in a family, which we are. And we call those chores trials and tribulations. Sure I am being simplistic in stating it like this, but it is the internal struggles that those chores and interactions with others create, that God uses to hone us and make us more like him while we are on this earth, in these sin broken bodies. And, it is in these sin broken, adopted bodies that we are asked to step up and be like Jesus.

You see scripture is not just a tedious collection of reading material; it is a training manual with graphic language that creates images in your spirit, demonstrating how you are to respond. No one said to Jesus, here is a demonized man, with all sorts of problems for you to figure out, now do something with him! Jesus merely did what his training had taught him to do, just like a paramedic might.

Can I gain the confidence to attack the enemy’s camp merely by investing time in the Word?

I do not see why not. If that is the case, then why are there not more people willing to tackle the devil’s work in the lives of people?

Having watched a few of the Discovery Channel shows about fight science, where a couple of healthy young men learn a new fighting style which always involves physical exertion, pain, and getting severely knocked around by those who are better and perhaps stronger as they learn the new skill set, I mentally understand the pain involved in learning something like this.

Maybe God already thought through the learning curve aspect.

Obviously, not everything involves pain like the martial arts, but there are many things that, by nature of their circumstances, have pain included. Anything new has a learning curve; what that means is that some things take time as you build the skill sets in you to make it work most effectively. Now apply that to dealings with the demonic. Few are equipped and willing to bring others through a teaching of that nature. Jesus told us that some demons will only come out by preparation that involves much prayer; that is not something that you should do in the middle of the action, it is something that should be a lifestyle. By saying that God may have thought this all through is really taking a tremendous pressure off of us, for though it is right and necessary to prepare, Jesus already did the hard work for us.

Luke 11:22 states, But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.”

Someone stronger has already attacked and overpowered the “strongman”; his name is Jesus.

Along this thought line, I went to a “bible study” recently where we read the last four chapters of Paul’s letter to Timothy, and then we were asked to talk about our favorite aspect of the reading. A little inundating, but several things caught my attention.

This was one of them: “Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. (8) For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV

Paul is telling young Timothy, “..physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” I do not suspect Paul was telling him to prepare for the day they might be thrown to the lions, merely pointing out that it has benefits.

We flew through these passages so fast. I think everyone reads just to get it done. Odd how something catches your eye, but verse seven just jumped out at me.

“…train yourself to be godly.”

What if this book, we call the bible, had this title instead, “Training yourself to be Godly” How many people would even look at it? Some, but most would not. And yet this is the key to this life we live on this earth.

We are asked to be Godly, but what does that look like?

It is not mandatory to wear a long trench coat of camel’s hair and live like a hermit in the desert. But God does ask us to do some hard things like: holding our tongues at times; not responding in anger; turning to the Father quickly when times get rough, and speaking and acting out the things we saw Jesus do, in Jesus’ name.

Paul, in writing to Timothy, described the qualifications for someone who wanted to be in a place of leadership over God’s people.

1 Timothy 3:1-12 NIV Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be:

  • above reproach,

  • faithful to his wife,

  • temperate,

  • self-controlled,

  • respectable,

  • hospitable,

  • able to teach,

  • not given to drunkenness,

  • not violent but gentle,

  • not quarrelsome,

  • not a lover of money.

  • He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.

  • He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.

  • He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,

  • be worthy of respect,

  • Sincere,

  • They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.

As I look at these, they are my desires for my life, and yes, most of these, in my mind, disqualify me. Some, like myself, might say, but I do not have the wish to lead, therefore, these traits may not apply to me so strictly. These then could be looked at as some of the major things that define a Godly life, and really just a better way to live. Wouldn’t it be nice if more people lived like this?

In terms of qualifications, Moses, though educated, murdered a man. Most would compare his bad moments against this list and disqualify him, too, but God looks upon the heart, and God is the one who makes the call as to whether you are supposed to lead or not. If God wants it to happen, he will make it happen.

I hope I made some sense. As I read, I think through what I am reading, and most of the time, this is about the way I see it. Staying on track and focused can tend to be an issue with me. I have actually been working on this “paper” for over a week, and I have had so many other ways God has talked to me.

I pray you find something in here that speaks to you.

Please read the passages, that is one of the reasons why I include them. I believe it is so important for you to read them for yourself. The Word of God will give an insight into who He is better than any man can do, just telling you about Him. I guess that means you need to hear His voice for yourself.

I truly believe that we are in the last days (I wrote this in 2012, and yet I still feel this way.) These are the days that Peter spoke of on the day of Pentecost when he quoted from Joel chapter 2. Joel chapter 2 is talking about the end, specifically the time of Jacob’s trouble. But here is what I want you to see. These people that Peter describes are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit of God, and through that power, they withstand the enemy.

Here is an example:

2 Kings 1:1-10 NIV After Ahab’s death, Moab rebelled against Israel. (2) Now Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and injured himself. So he sent messengers, saying to them, “Go and consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, to see if I will recover from this injury.” (3) But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron?’ (4) Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!'” So Elijah went. (5) When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you come back?” (6) “A man came to meet us,” they replied. “And he said to us, ‘Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, “This is what the LORD says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending messengers to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!”‘” (7) The king asked them, “What kind of man was it who came to meet you and told you this?” (8) They replied, “He had a garment of hair and had a leather belt around his waist.” The king said, “That was Elijah the Tishbite.” (9) Then he sent to Elijah a captain with his company of fifty men. The captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and said to him, “Man of God, the king says, ‘Come down!'” (10) Elijah answered the captain, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.

This happened twice. The third time, the captain who came pleaded for mercy from the man of God, and Elijah came with him.

The day is coming, and for some, that day is here.

Find out who you are!

Find out who God is inside of you!

It is time to open your mouth and declare “If I be a man of God ….” What ever needs to be done.

We are fighting a spiritual battle first and foremost, never forget that, but humans and beasts will bow their knee to the name and power of Jesus Christ.

Having recently discovered the Chronicles of Narnia, let me say. We are free Narnians, all of us adopted, but some have never known not to be free men. As kings and queens of this fair land, we need to act like it. Act like the nobility that God has made us to be.

Why I write.

Why do I write?

I think it started as a desire to understand God. Having spent all those years growing up in the church I am painfully aware of what the religious folk taught me, but I needed to know for myself. I am really quite excited about what I have found, because I either had to or chose to look for myself.

On the one hand I could easily say I was lied to, but the truth is that they only tried to impress upon me the concepts that had been passed along to them (perhaps they were trying to make reality something they thought children could understand). I do not think that excuses those in authority from reading the truth themselves and passing along a correct understanding. Read the scriptures, you will find that God speaks consistently, with some anger, about shepherds that lead the flock astray. Why? Because it allows the flock to be destroyed.

As I think about the time frame, I have systematically been reading God’s Word about eight years. Someone recently said t

o me, “you know so much about the bible.” I do not feel that way, and my mind is not retaining the locations of passages anymore, but then when you think about the time you have invested, you should have a better understanding than the average religious person who allows someone else to prescribe their theology (I almost hate that word theology because one the “Christian” radio stations I listen to flings the word around like a club to inflict you. It merely means your concepts and understanding of God, and how you apply them to your life.)

There were so many things going on prior to this change in me. I had been involved with a mega church where I operated computer driven projection screens that the audience saw. While some look at people who do things like this as icons, what goes on in the background is far to often filled with extraordinary str

esses, most of which come from power-driven pastors and their staff. Sadly, I left there in a rage, never went back, and fell into a non-church going depression for about a year.

What changed that stage of my life had a lot to do with a church I used to go to that was doing a building project, and I got involved. Once the church was built I stayed there. Out of work, I involved myself in various Bible studies and groups and I began, once again, to experience a growth spurt in the Lord.

Each of the bible studies usually gave you a clue about what to expect for the following week, so I would read ahead. Although I was not even close to being the leader, I have always had the wish

to lead, and would prepare for when the need arose. Perhaps it was the preparation, or perhaps it was the fact that my being ready gave me some insights to share, but I did get several opportunities, and gained some respect from a small handful of people. Since nothing has ever come easily for me, why should this be any different. I watched, as people with the ability to schmooze the pastor gained bible teaching positions in the church while having no understanding of the Word, teaching garbage and someone else’s opinion.

I have always had a desire to understand end times events, and like everyone else, reading the Revelation, Daniel, or Ezekiel had my head spinning (I am now quite sure that the “head spin” had much to do with trying to understand by using the conjecture taught me when I was younger.)

There used to be a man running around the country named Hilton Sutton. He would speak on end times in a way that fascinated me, but I would walk away just as lost. Attempts at reading and understanding these things just muddied up the water even more. It was not until I came across a book called the Islamic Antichrist that things began to have meaning. Names, places, and characters within the Revelation suddenly began to make sense.

While others around me seem to struggle, I will tell you that I am not confused (occasionally I can be, especially when someone decides to assert an improper dominance and force their ill-formed concept down your throat.)

A man who is part of a Bible study I attend pushes some poorly researched ideas about the Millennial reign. It is your right to have opinions, but to shove them down someone’s throat as theology, is not your right. When you do that you set yourself up as god, knowing what is best, and you will be judged accordingly.

1 Corinthians 3:11-13 KJV For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

No, I do not have all this memorized, but my mind clings to concepts, and one of the things education will do for you is to teach you to do research. I am not the best at it, but comparing resources and original texts I can gain an understanding, and hopefully share that with you. Therefore, if I am given time I will come back to you with a definitive answer. If I cannot give you an answer like that, then I will lead to the truth of God’s Word, and allow Him to enlighten you.

Writing helps me to clarify things that bring me confusion. Confusion is not of God, and in case you were not aware, God is not trying to confuse anyone who reads the Revelation. It is a book that was meant to be understood and there is a special blessing upon those that pursue that understanding.

Writing has given me a framework from which to ask questions. I can develop those questions without reproach, obtaining answers just as if God were speaking directly to me, and there many times in which I feel that he is. I am safe in discussing my doubts, griefs and misunderstandings with God. No one rebuffs me for having doubts or erratic ideas.

Even though I write to understand the Father, I find it also gives me a better understanding of myself. Work is filled with daily stresses; investing time in God’s word helps me to keep my head on straight. Yes, I have had experiences with mental health professionals (I do not recommend you judge me at this point. Just because you either had better parenting than I had, or you choose to self-medicate. You are no better than me, and you need to understand that in a big hurry.) Counseling gave me some tools to help me understand why I react the way I do. They told me that I was passive aggressive. What that means: my tendency is to merely take the abuse, no matter what the form, until I could not take it anymore, then I turn into a angry, raging, monster. The worst part is that you have to deal with the carnage you leave behind, and I hate cleaning up. I learned that I have to talk about how I feel so that I do not merely retain a continuing stream of pain, and writing gives me a venue to discuss that pain and anger. If you are not aware, God can handle your anger and pain. My problem is that I did not take it to him either.

For all the reasons I write I suppose the bottom line is, writing builds a trust in me. I have come to trust and understand that God is trustworthy and therefore I can trust him. I have gone through doubts, and so did the Apostle Paul. Read 1 Corinthians 15 where he talks about the idea that what we are doing, this living a righteous life, is in vain, unless this hope we have in Jesus, and all that he entails, is true, and it is. He had to sort these things out for himself. Do you not understand that Paul’s training would have fought against the grace of God, and that grace is Paul’s main theme throughout scripture. I have learned that God is a god of mercy, that grace rules my life, that there is freedom in Him and yet I choose not to offend others, so that they may come to know that same grace. I have come to understand that God is true and trustworthy. His word is comprehensible and he desires us to understand who He is.

It is by writing that I have come to understand that Jesus is God.

A response given. Dated 5/15/2012

There are some things I read that register immediately in my spirit; this response is toward one of them. The Holy Spirit seems to flood over me at times like this, not only in recognition of a kindred spirit, but of the power and majesty of the Holy God.

I will be honest with you. With out knowing what you had to say I almost dreaded seeing any replies. Most who have made contacts with me on earlier posts no longer do so. One fellow went on a strange attack.

Do I fear them? No. Can they cause me some form of depression? Yes. I have to shake that stuff off.

What the rebuffs and rejections do to me, is to make me more determined. I wish I wrote more intelligibly and could get these words, I feel are of the Holy Spirit, directly to those that need to hear it.
You know most will reject it.

5/14/12 – I went to Monday morning bible study with a group of guys I met at the coffee shop. Quite the mix they are. Only one of the Catholic brothers was there and he was asking for a definition of who Jesus is, because, and I am guessing, the Mormons came to his door and told him they believe in Jesus too. Within minutes that migrated into his own unbelief and misconceptions about the trinity.

The “leader” (Yes, you detected a little disdain.) is much more skillful at confronting cults, so he answering most of the questions.

At this point in walks our occasional visit from the Doctor of Philosophy. Educated, black, and angry, he will turn a 30 second answer into an hour long diatribe about slavery, racism and prejudice, no matter what the topic. The worst part is I have no idea where he stands in his relationship to Jesus Christ. He said things the other day that made him sound like Oprah Winfrey. God is in everything and everyone. There is no need to seek his face, for all men are created in his image. He made me want to throw up, and worst is his lack of desire to hear anything to the contrary.

Here is what scares me about this. I suspect that we are talking about two out of three “Christians” believe this tripe.

I came home and one of my sisters had just pulled up to the house. I told her straight out that I had just been in the presence of demons. (Why would I say that? Read Mark 1:23-24 ) I told my sister about what had just happened, adding, really, all I want to do is to talk about the greatness of my God. Now that often leads me into so many other aspects, but I never hear this out of the Dr.

I do not know how we got there but she, who used to be solid in the word and faith, is now telling me that there is no hell outside of some uncomfortable separation from God, and even then you can see him in the distance. She referenced the beggar Lazarus being comforted, and the “former” rich man in torment but capable of seeing all this from a relatively short distance, therefore a loving God would not torment his own creation by putting them into an eternal tormented hell, completely separate from God.

I tried to reason with her, but my memory is failing me and I do not tend to remember precise scriptures like I used to. God is not putting anyone in hell. They are merely following the one they love to his destination.

I fear for her now as well. Not so much over the possibility that they have rejected Christ and won’t make the rapture, but what if they do have to endure the time of Jacob’s trouble? When I try to bring them up to speed on current events that are and will affect them, she tells me I am scaring her, and did not God tells us to only think on the good things.

When people say things, like she did, they demonstrate their lack of knowledge and understanding of who God is.

I have found him to be more merciful than anyone could ever have imagined. I have only found these things out by reading them for myself and asking questions. So for me to hear such narrow minded, responses that lack insight and logic, I then keenly aware that the respondent does not read for themselves.

– God demonstrated his great mercy by offering up his son for a world that did not deserve it; a world that  certainly could not have paid the price for their own salvation.

– He extends mercy through the age of grace, toward all who will come.

– He extends mercy throughout the time of Jacob’s trouble through “endurance”, to all who will call upon his name. As a side note on this aspect. There will be an outpouring of Holy Spirit and revival throughout the time of Jacob’s trouble (the tribulation period). I know this because Peter restated it on the day of Pentecost when he quoted from Joel Chapter 2. Joel chapter 2 is a chapter about the time of judgment, Jacob’s troubles. The Holy Spirit has already begun to fall as he is empowering people like myself to declare with mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord over everything, and we are responding with our hands as we reach out and touch people with healing and life.

– And, even at the white throne judgment, after the 1000 years are over, he extends his mercy by basing his acceptance based upon what seems like good deeds. I believe that doing these good deeds these people are demonstrating the character of God.

You probably aware, that during this time of the white throne judgment, there are those, that although they are screaming at God about what they did in his name (Islam believes that Allah is his name.), they are not shown mercy because of their lack of good deeds.

How could anyone dare call God unfair and unmerciful. Hell has torment, Jesus told us so in Matthew 5:22. Satan will be thrown into a lake of fire to be tormented forever. Only those that follow him, their leader, will be thrown in there with him.

I said it all to say, that if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, and believe that he empowers us to move mountains, then I am honored to have a warrior and a watchman, stand in battle with me.

I believe that he is coming quickly. We are not in the darkness that we cannot ascertain that his approach is near.

If you did not see my recommendation, then get a copy of the book “The Harbinger” by Jonathon Cahn.

We are that close. The prophecy was declared over 2000 years ago, and every aspect has come to pass as this nation has followed the same destructive path that Israel did, all those years ago.

I personally believe that our President’s statement recently about homosexual marriages sealed our fate as a nation. The time of repentance is over for this nation and judgment will come quickly.

All that is left is for us to pray that God invades the hearts and minds of those that will follow him. I, personally, do not want anyone to have to go through what is to come, nor hell.

I have been called to be a watchman upon the wall, and this is one of my trumpets. Join me as we cry out, “the sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.”

The servant of the Most High God
Ozzie

This dear lady speaks God’s heart and mind, and has spoken to mine this day.

Ancient Paths's avatarAncient Paths

Gatekeepers have three primary roles

  1. To protect the Lord’s house.  This means they defend the gospel, the truth of the Word and Protect the holiness of God’s house. Their hearts are on fire with the Fear of the Lord. They want the Lord’s house to be a house of Prayer and they are not content until they see the Lord’s will come to place. The gatekeeper protects the House. They know the scriptures well and are full of understanding. They are bold to speak out against the sins of the church- even if it means they will be mocked, hated or even kicked out of the church. They stay close to the House of the Lord
  2. They keep the Lord’s people on the right path, keeping them from drifting from the Lord. As a staff or sheepdog would keep the sheep together from straying, so the role of gatekeeper is the same…

Don’t let the enemy rob you.

I love the story surrounding Issac and Rebekah. If I had been Abraham I would have wanted the best for my “only son” too.

The father of faith, Abraham, will not have his son marry one of the local women for they do not know, nor honor God. So he sends his servant to the land of his relatives to get a wife.

Nothing about that process seems good for there are far too many variables involved, even the servant knew that, but the servant demonstrated some remarkable insight and applies some logic, faith, and we bit of a test, and God comes through with the quick answer.

Rebekah comes off as remarkable in the first few seconds, and she demonstrates some traits that would have made her the prize of any man. I wish I had met her.

Eventually Issac and Rebekah become man and wife, the family grows, and the boys choose wives of their own.

Anyone familiar with this fairy tale scenario knows that it is filled with some twisted human dynamics. I am not a psychologist, but have had to deal with a tremendous amount of family trauma myself, and it is not fun.

And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me? (Genesis 27:46 KJV)

Look up the word weary in the Strong’s concordance and you will begin to get the true sense of despair in her voice.

The word is qûts, pronounced koots, (Strong # H6973) and is a primitive root (rather identical with H6972 through the idea of severing oneself from (compare H6962)); to be (causatively make) disgusted or anxious: – abhor, be distressed, be grieved, loathe, vex, be weary.

I read this and suddenly have a clearer picture of how depression affected her. If we take this concept of severing herself to it’s extreme she was considering suicide. We know that she did not follow through with this thought, but the effects of her playing the two sons against each other, and Esau’s rebellion against her authority were devastating.

It was only this last Sunday morning that our guest speaker, a man in national demand at prophetic conferences, said something that brought the grand prophetic illusion down to earth when he stated that one of major events that weakens us and make us subject to the enemies attacks was times of great weariness.

I know what it means to me. I am tired, but in my case add a little dose of low blood sugar, and I am not thinking straight at all. I have to force myself to distinguish between what I know feels like depression and just plain exhaustion. I also know that I dare not attempt to make a reasonable decision in a condition like that.

The dictionary tends to define weariness as: The state of exhaustion induced by physical labor; fatigue; disappointment; unmet expectations; worn-out patience, (or, if I may, burn out.)

Look, God has a job for you to do. Though you might look at yourself and consider yourself unfit for God’s duty, you need to know that you were especially designed and hand-picked for that job; the path your life has taken you on and made you is exactly why, but if the enemy can take you out of action due to fatigue or poor decision-making then not only has the enemy won that battle, but you have lost out on an amazing feeling of peace.

I have found that being ready and alert enough to respond to the leading of the Spirit’s direction can be the most rewarding feeling this world has to offer. There is some foolishness in that statement because I am comparing a feeling I associate with the spirit with what the world has to offer. They cannot compare.

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waits for him. (Isaiah 64:4 KJV)

Don’t let the enemy rob you through weariness. Sit by the brook for a spell, just as David’s men did, and get your strength back. God will not forget you. (Read 1Samuel 30)
